College education planning seminar
The Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF), with the support of the West Geauga Schools, will hold a free college information session for parents of Geauga County students in grades K-9 regarding preparing for a student's postsecondary education. Topics include timelines for parents, financial aid facts and myths, college costs, tools for reducing college costs, saving for college, tools to use when talking with one's student and resources.
The session will be held Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon at West Geauga Middle School in Room 124 located at 8611 Cedar Road in Chesterland.
Reservations are required; capacity is limited. Please call LEAF at (440) 358-8045 to reserve a seat or register online at www-leaf-ohio.org and click on event registration.
College information sessions scheduled
The Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation will hold free sessions for high school seniors and their parents at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11 and Dec. 2.
The scholarship sessions inform parents and students on how to find information about scholarships and tips on how to improve their chances of being awarded scholarship money for college.
Both sessions will be held at the LEAF Resource Center, 8221 Auburn Road in Concord. Reservations are required, capacity is limited. Please call LEAF at (440) 358-8045 to reserve a seat.
LEAF is a non-profit college access agency serving students of all ages with the financial aid process.
Fall book sale
The West Geauga Friends of the Library fall book sale begins Nov. 11 with a members' preview from 4 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the public sale from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The sale continues Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Bag day sale is Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Books are priced from 25 cents for paperbacks to 75 cents for adult hardbacks and trade books. Special collectible books, first editions and recent bestsellers are priced individually.
Funds raised will benefit the ongoing adult and children's programs at the library, which is located at 13455 Chillicothe Road. For information, call (440) 729-4250.
