Program helps seniors seeking work

Thursday, November 19, 2009

The Senior Community Service Employment Program offered through Geauga County Job & Family Services is looking for senior citizens interested in part-time employment with non-profit employers.

The state-supported program pays seniors citizens to work an average of 20 hours a week at prevailing minimum wage, while learning new or polishing existing job skills.

Program participants must meet certain income guidelines. Individuals will be placed in a wide variety of community service activities at non-profit organizations and receive on-the-job training during placement.

The job training and experience helps prepare individuals for a transition to possible unsubsidized employment.

For more information, call the Senior Employment Center at Job & Family Services at (440) 285-9189.
