Fall conferences scheduled

Parent-teacher conferences for Newbury Elementary School are planned for Nov. 18 and 19 from 3:45 to 7:15 p.m. Fifteen minute conferences can be arranged by calling the secretary, Mrs. Kathy Markiewicz, at (440) 564-2282, or writing a note requesting a conference with your child's teacher. Many parents already signed up for times at the open houses held earlier in the school year.

High school conferences begin at 3:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m. Ten minute conferences can be arranged for junior high or high school students by calling the high school office at (440) 564-2281 and asking for conference scheduling.

We look forward to seeing you again and conversing about your child.

Spanish students visit the Cleveland Institute of Art

On Oct. 22, the Spanish III and IV class members went on a field trip to the Cleveland Institute of Art. They viewed the motion picture "Sleep Dealer," which was in Spanish with English subtitles.

An award winning picture from the 2008 Foreign Film Festival, the film dealt with issues such as illegal immigration, water rights and technology outpacing our ability to keep up with it. Students enjoyed the thought-provoking film.

After the movie, they traveled to Solon on their way home and ate at the Mexican restaurant, Chipotle. It was a beautiful day to see the leaves changing as the group drove down Fairmount Boulevard into Shaker Heights, past the bustling campus of Case Western Reserve University.

Everyone had an enjoyable and educational time. The Spanish teacher is Mr. Tom Pokorny.
