Bass Lake Preserve

The Geauga Park District held a public meeting Oct. 8 at Bass Lake Lodge in Munson. Attendees were asked to offer their ideas for renovation of the current structure or for a new building, which would include all necessary "creature comforts" and other expensive installations. Timeline was said to be 2010.

A list of suggestions and ideas from that meeting is posted on the GPD's Web site: www.geaugaparkdistrict.org. Call Tom Curtin, GPD executive director, at (440) 286-9516 with any opinions, questions or suggestions about the project. A memorable Munson Notable honored

At WomnenSafe's annual meeting held Oct. 22, Munson's late beloved couple, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poutasse, known as Betsy and Charlie, was honored with WomenSafe's "This Year of Service" award. They were commemorated and featured in the annual report for making a haven in their home for abused women 30 years ago, which was the beginning of WomenSafe.

Charlie was named a Munson Notable in 2004. Betsy died in 2007 and Charlie left us in 2008. Although he lived a quarter mile away on Fowlers Mill Road, Charlie always called me "neighbor." Gone, but not forgotten!

The NDCL girls defeated state champion Poland Seminary by a score of 658 to 677. The resolution will be entered into the township's permanent records.

Congratulations and best wishes for continued success on the greens to Emily Jereb, Talia Trovato, Nicole Trivissono, Danielle Misencik, Nikki Sarkisian, Marisa Forstlyk, Taylor Pitts and Colleen Poe.
