Bloodmobile

American Red Cross blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors may give every 56 days and must bring some form of photo identification and a list of all current medications.

2009 Children's Immunization Clinics

The Geauga County General Health District is providing children's immunization clinics free of charge to all Geauga County residents regardless of income. Non-Geauga County residents will be charged $5 per child, per visit. Residents also should bring immunization records to the clinic.

The following is a list of scheduled immunization clinics remaining for November:

* Chardon Evening Clinic, Nov. 12, Geauga County Health District, 470 Center St., Bldg. 8, 3 to 6 p.m.

* Middlefield, NO CLINIC, First United Methodist Church, 14999 S. State St., 9 to 11:30 a.m.

* Middlefield Evening Clinic, Nov. 19, First United Methodist Church, 14999 S. State St., 3 to 6 p.m.

* Newbury, Nov. 25, Grace Evangelical Bible Church, 14951 Auburn Road, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

* Parkman, Nov. 18, Parkman Community Center, 16295 Main Market Road, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

* Troy, NO CLINIC, Troy Community Center, 13950 Main Market Road, 9 to 11:30 a.m.

NAMI support groups

The Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is hosting support groups for persons with a mental illness or with a family member, loved one or child diagnosed with a mental illness (brain disorder).

A support group meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Middlefield Public Library. The next meeting is Nov. 11.

A caregiver support group meets the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, 13244 Ravenna Road in Chardon. The next meeting is Nov. 12.

No registration is necessary and the programs are free. For more information, call the Mental Health Association at (440) 285-3945. NAMI provides mutual support for persons diagnosed with serious mental illness and their families.

NAMI Geauga speaker meeting

Deanna Brant, Emergency Services director at Ravenwood Mental Health Center, and Lt. Scott Niehus of the Geauga County Sherriff's Office will speak about the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) in Geauga County at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services, 13244 Ravenna Road.
