Home energy assistance
Many Ohio residents are looking for ways to cut their energy bills. The Office of the Ohio Consumer's Counsel (OCC) offers a Home Weatherization Assistance Program for customers who are income eligible. It is a federally funded energy efficiency program available to low income residential consumers.
There is also a Home Energy Assistance Program to help qualified customers pay for winter heating costs.
For more information on these and many other programs, contact the OCC at 877-742-5622 or visit the Web site at www.pickocc.org.
Township hall reservations
If a group normally reserves the township hall for regularly scheduled meetings, be sure to call administrative assistant Mary Ann Dottore at (440) 286-4364 to request a 2010 use form. The township does not want anyone to lose a preferred time; it seems we get calls from new groups wanting to use the hall every week.
The hall is available only to not for profit groups and cannot be used for things such as jewelry or Tupperware parties where the host stands to make a profit.
Residents may also rent the hall for private functions for a fee of $25 with an additional $25 cleanup deposit that will be refunded as long as the building is left in the condition which it was found and all trash is removed.
Hambden Elementary news
Hambden Elementary School collected $1,070.20 from Box Tops for Education since the beginning of the school year. This is the amount of cash that General Mills Box Tops for Education will give to the school.
The school is asking the community to help double this amount by the next collection in January of 2010. Simply clip off the box top with the expiration date on it and send it into school.
Just 4 Kidz Childcare out did themselves with almost 100 box tops collected so far. A big thank you from the Box Tops team for everyone's support. The team would also like to continue to thank Zeppe's Pizza in Chardon, Hambden Alliance Church and Hambden Township Hall for their support as well.
The holidays are upon us and this is a golden opportunity to help Hambden Elementary with their technology goals. Please do not hesitate to come to the school and drop off box tops as well.
The money they generate will be greatly appreciated by all of the students and staff. Happy holidays from everyone at Hambden Elementary and thank you for your continued support.
