Santa Shop Nov. 14
Claridon Girl Scout Troop 1324 is looking for crafters and vendors for its third annual Santa Shop to be held Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Claridon Town Hall. The hall is located at the corner of U.S. 322 and Claridon-Troy Road.
Admission is free. There will be refreshments, a bake sale, door prizes and Santa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Spaghetti dinner
The Western Phoenix Masonic Lodge is holding an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner fundraiser Nov. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Parkman Community House located on Route 422, just east of Route 528. Cost is $7 for adults; children under 5 eat free.
Post 459 upcoming events
American Legion Post 459 will present the colors at 2 p.m. Nov. 8 during the dedication ceremony at the Geauga County Veterans Memorial site located on Ravenwood Drive across from University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. Call Dick at (440) 285-2333 for information.
The Post will hold an open house soup and chili dinner Nov. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. The dinner is free to all veterans and family.

Grange pancake breakfast
Hambden Grange 2482 is serving an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Nov. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under.

Bainbridge historical society
The Bainbridge Township Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at 8465 Bainbridge Road in Bainbridge. Guest speaker Linda Kanoti will be speaking about and showing slides of old school houses throughout the country.

Fall Into Learning day
On Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a fun and free educational day for parents, children and early childhood professionals will be held at the Bessie Benner Metzenbaum Center in Chesterland.
The parent track includes presentations on teaching your children about money, finding balance and joy in your life in an unbalanced world and a panel discussion on spending quality time with your children on a budget. There will be stories, crafts and music for children ages 3 to 10 during the program.

Community day care auction
The Chardon Community Day Care Center is holding its sixth annual Chinese auction Nov. 7 at Claridon Town Hall, 13930 Mayfield Road. Doors open at noon with drawings beginning at 2 p.m. Must be present to win.
Tickets are available in advance by calling Robin at (440) 286-4135 or at the door the day of the auction. Entry fee is $2 per person; youth under 13 are free. Auction tickets are $10 per sheet of 25 tickets.
There will be a bake sale as well as a concession stand. All monies raised will benefit the Chardon Community Day Care Center.
Chardon Rotary auction
The Rotary Club of Chardon will hold its 18th annual Harvest Auction Nov. 7 at Quail Hollow Resort in Concord Township. The fund-raising event supports many worthwhile causes in Chardon, Geauga County and the world.
The event features Chinese, silent and live auctions as well as 50/50 raffles and an open bar. Festivities begin at 6 p.m., followed with a formal dinner choice of steak, chicken or vegetarian, at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets to the auction/dinner are $75 per person, or $150 per couple, and are available through Nov. 2 by contacting Dick Depenbrok at (440) 286-4216 or Charlie Brown at (440) 286-6649.
Breakfast with Santa, craft show
The Burton American Legion Auxiliary Post 459 is hosting Breakfast with Santa Nov. 28 and 29 and the ninth annual Santa's Collection Craft Show Nov. 29.
Breakfast will be served Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and under.
The craft show will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Area crafters will offer unique gifts, crafts and toys. Admission to the craft show only is free. For table information, call Carol at (440) 834-4532.
All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund. The Post is located on Goodwin Street in Burton.
New Mercies auction
New Mercies Community Church is holding its third annual Chinese auction Nov. 14. Doors open at 3 p.m. followed by the auction at 5 p.m.
The $7 admission includes bidding tickets. Receive $1 off admission with food donations for the food pantry. Additional sheets cost $5. Food and drink will be available.

Science club examines holiday plants
The Cleveland Natural Science Club is sponsoring a program, "Holiday House Plants and Their Care," at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Look About Lodge, 37374 Miles Road, Bentleyville.
Noelle Akin, director of communications and education for Petitti Garden Centers, will provide interesting facts to make holiday plants last longer.

NJRB cornhole tournament
Newbury Joint Rec Board is holding a cornhole tournament starting at 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at Hickory Lake Inn, 14592 Stone Road, Newbury.
Entry fee is $40 per team (2 players) if received by Nov. 9. Space is limited. After Nov. 9, fee is $50. Age 18 and over.

Fall smorgasbord dinner
Bainbridge Community Church will hold a fall smorgasbord dinner Nov. 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church located at 17751 Chillicothe Road. The buffet style dinner will offer choices from Chinese to Hungarian and folk music by Willy Rivera and the Guild Brothers.
