Calling all veterans

Park School will be having a short assembly honoring veterans on Nov. 11. The school would like to invite parents/relatives of its students who have served in the Armed Forces to attend this program. Veterans are encouraged to wear their uniforms, if possible. The school would like to give each veteran an opportunity to share (one to five minutes) with the audience their years of service, area of service in the Armed Forces and what being a veteran means to them.

The school is also asking Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to wear their uniforms. The assembly will be held at 9:45 a.m. Nov. 11. School parking is limited. Parking on the square is more accessible to our auditorium.

Please call the school at (440) 285-4067 to let us know if you are interested in participating.

H1N1 vaccinations

The Geauga County Health Department is preparing for a mass dispensing of the 2009 influenza A (H1N1) vaccine and the Chardon Schools has agreed to be used as a distribution center to house clinics for the dispensing of the flu vaccine to our students and staff.

These vaccinations are optional. It is up to the parent to decide if they want to have their child vaccinated. However, physicians and health department officials are strongly encouraging the vaccinations.

Dates and times of these clinics will be announced as soon as the vaccine is available. Students must provide a signed consent form in order to participate. There will be no cost to parents for this vaccine and the 2009 H1N1 vaccine will be dispensed by qualified medical personnel from the health department.

Night at the Races

The Chardon Athletic Boosters will host their annual Night at the Races on Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Mary Party Room. The cost is $15 per person and includes roast beef and barbecued park sandwiches, beer, soft drinks and coffee. Call the athletic office at (440) 286-0414 for tickets.

Buy poinsettia & live wreaths at Munson School

The poinsettia and live wreath fundraiser is now underway at Munson Elementary School. Be sure to get a jump on holiday decorating by making a purchase from their selection of poinsettia plants or handcrafted evergreens, including live wreaths with matching sprays, a candlelit centerpiece and a living tabletop tree. Consider reaching out to family, friends and co-workers for additional sales.

These products are a beautiful addition to your own holiday decor and also make ideal gifts.

For out-of-town relatives and friends, shoppers can take advantage of the Holiday Gift Option. For an additional $10, have a live wreath, centerpiece or living tabletop tree sent as a gift via UPS directly from the Mickman Brothers wreath shop.

Each gift includes a personalized gift card and is shipped in an attractive gift box to ensure the product arrives in perfect condition. A wreath hangar is sent with all wreath gifts and a light set is included with the Victorian wreath and tabletop tree. If interested in the Holiday Gift Option, contact Sandy Danison at (440) 477-7533.

All proceeds will benefit Munson Elementary. Orders are due by Nov. 9. Product pickup will be at the school during the first week of December. For more information, contact Michelle Fisher at (440) 286-8519 or Sandy Danison.
