Chardon Middle School's Junior Teen Institute helped promoted Red Ribbon Week by sponsoring a hat day. The annual Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for schools to promote drug prevention and education and a personal commitment from students to live drug free lives, with the ultimate goal being the creation of drug free America.

Burton car dealer Pat Preston recently presented a check for $200 to Munson Principal Louise Henry as part of his September Back to School Charity Challenge. The promotion stipulated that for any car purchased from Preston Super Store during the month of September, he would donate $200 to the buyer's choice of an area school.
