KSU Geauga GEL breakfast features Commissioner Jemison
Geauga County Commissioner Tracy A. Jemison will speak on the "Economic State of Geauga" Nov. 6, from 8 to 9 a.m., at the Burton Campus of Kent State University. Please contact Reina Taylor at (440) 834-3745 to reserve a seat. Walk-ins are also welcome.
The breakfast is part of the Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) speaker series presented at the Kent State, Burton. Admission is free and donuts and coffee will be served.
Amish style wedding dinner
The Friends of WomenSafe is hosting an Amish style wedding dinner Nov. 7 in the social hall of the Middlefield Fire Department located at 14870 N. State St. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. followed by the buffet at 6:30 p.m. Please call Nancy at (440) 564-1009 for tickets.
Bountiful Boutique Nov. 6
The Chardon Christian Fellowship located at 401 S. Hambden St. in Chardon will offer the public a variety of holiday gifts from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Chardon Friends of the Library book sale
The annual Friends of the Chardon Library book sale takes place Nov. 7 and 8.
First Sunday Soup Day
The public was in for a real homemade meal if they attended the first Sunday Soup at St. Luke Episcopal Church in Chardon Nov. 1. The next Sunday Soup dinner takes place Dec. 6. It is open to the public and an offering is taken.
Remember Veterans Day Nov. 11
Remember the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. Meet on Chardon Square near the Courthouse to remember this fateful and historic day in history.
There will also be a program at the Chardon Middle School earlier in the day.
St. Mary's community dinner Nov. 19
Due to Thanksgiving falling on the fourth Thursday in November, St. Mary's Church volunteers will offer their monthly community dinner on Nov. 19.
Please call the church to let them know how many people plan to attend; callers do not need to leave their names. The dinner is served from 5 to 7 pm. A donation offering is accepted. The church is located across from the Chardon Middle School on North Street.
Paul Newman art show
From now through Nov. 30, The Geauga Council for Arts and Culture presents Art in the Mart at the New York Deli, 425 Water St. in the same plaza as Marcs. The event features artist and local lawyer Paul Newman.
The Geauga Council for Arts & Culture is a non-profit organization dedicated to the enrichment of our community through the promotion, of education, access and participation in the arts.
"Radio Boy, A Staged Radio Drama," written by Geauga County playwright Joanne Durante, takes place at 8 p.m. Nov. 13 and 14 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 15. The program is directed by veteran Cleveland actor and director Mark Cipra.
Radio Boy is a timely tale of a family down-on-its luck during the Great Depression. Enriched with authentic Geauga County history, and the warmth, humor, and music of the Golden Age of Radio, this live radio drama will be enacted on the stage of the historic Geauga Theater for three performances only. It all takes place at the Geauga Theater, 101 Water St. in Chardon. Call (440) 286-2255 for tickets or information.

Comment for the day
The weather has still been quite nice. "Of Mice and Men" is the performance to watch at the Geauga Theater. There is quite an array of entertainment going on in Chardon and the surrounding area, including a program that features anchorman Ted Henry at NDCL Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. The program is free and open to the public. There is a reception at 6 p.m. that costs $10. Call the Chardon Library for ticket information for the reception.
